Jada Pinkett Smith has another movie lined up. She will be starring in an upcoming drama from Netflix Redd Zone and produced by Westbrook Studios co-founded by Will Smith, Pinkett Smith, and Miguel Melendez. Pinkett Smith, Melendez, and Jon Mone, Westbrook Studios co-president and head of motion pictures, will produce the film with Emmy-nominee Howard Burkons. Brandon Magee will act as the project’s executive producer.
Redd Zone will be based on the true story of Tia Magee (Pinkett Smith), a single mother who helps to support her sons and their high school football teammates, “The Bros,” to heal after their best friend, Dominic Redd, is murdered. One by one, the boys start to move into her home and soon will have 17 of “The Bros” living under her roof. In the end, “The Bros” go off to college, and four of them make it to the NFL. Brandon Magee, Magee’s son, becomes a linebacker for the Cleveland Browns and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Boston Red Socks later drafted him to play outfield.
Pinkett Smith is currently in development on The Matrix 4 and will be the executive producer on the forthcoming biopic King Richard, the father of tennis greats Serena and Venus Williams. She also co-hosts Facebook Watch’s Red Table Talk, with her mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, and Willow Smith.
