J.K. Simmons and More Signed on to Join Thriller ‘The Woods’

J.K. Simmons is going to the dark side, and it’s sure to be thrilling. According to Deadline, J.K. Simmons (The Tomorrow War), Allen Leech (Bohemian Rhapsody), Fernanda Urrejola (Cry Macho), and Isabelle Anaya (Donny’s Bar Mitzvah) are set to star in the thriller The Woods.

Michelle Schumacher is directing the film. Her latest film is the 2017 drama I’m Not Here that stars J.K. Simmons, Sebastian Stan, Mandy Moore, Max Greenfield, and Iain Armitage. Schumacher also co-wrote the script with Carolyn Carpenter

The Woods revolves around a teenage girl who is suffering from anxiety as a result of a sad incident in her past and finds herself being pursued through the woods by a psychopath on a homicidal spree.

“I didn’t want to play any truly scary bad guys when our kids were young, partly because of how it might affect them if they saw the film and also because I didn’t want to bring that energy home with me after an intense day on the set,” Simmons said

It is being rumored that Simmons will reprise his role as James Gordon in the upcoming DC Comics Batgirl film. He is also set to star in the comedy thriller My Only Sunshine opposite John Cusack.

Leech will be seen next in the upcoming Downton Abbey sequel Downton Abbey: A New Era.

Urrejola can be seen in the new Clint Eastwood film Cry Macho, now playing in theaters and HBO max.

The Woods is currently in the midst of filming.
