Today J.J. Abrams (Star Trek [2009]) went on X to give his thoughts on the new Tom Cruise (Jerry McGuire) movie Digger.
“My dear friend [Tom Cruise] is no doubt about to blow our collective mind with Digger. What an undeniably spectacular career. What a bold and wild next step. Only seen a taste of the film… cannot wait for October to see the rest!”
This post was a response to a post that Tom Cruise made yesterday that said, “For the last 46 years, it has been my privilege to work alongside countless talented artists and crews to create these characters, stories, and films for you all. I’m looking forward to seeing you at the movies! DIGGER. Only in theaters this October.”
Attached to the post was a three minute video that showed all of Tom Cruise’s performances on screen, from his earliest roles like David Shawn in Taps and his more recent roles as Ethan Hunt in the Mission Impossible-The Final Reckoning. All the clips were made to set up Cruise’s new role as Digger Rockwell, in Digger. The video gives a brief teaser of what Digger is going to look like aesthetically and what kind of character Cruise will be portraying. the video ends with the tagline, “A Comedy of Catastrophic Proportions.”
