As stated by Deadline, Sean Kaufman (The Summer I Turned Pretty, For All Mankind) is discussing terms to star in a new Daniels duo film that could potentially star alongside Matt Damon (Good Will Hunting, Saving Private Ryan). Daniel Scheinert (Everything Everywhere All At Once, Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens) and Daniel Kwan (Omniboat: A Fast Boat Fantasia, Swiss Army Man), also known as the Daniels, are set to direct and write the untitled film. Charles Melton (Riverdale, The Sun Is Also A Star) and Sandra Oh (Grey’s Anatomy, Invincible) are other cast members with Damon.
Damon is the protagonist of the film. The Daniels are currently in the process of casting a young male. Details have not yet been revealed. Jonathan Wang (The Death of Dick Long, The Legend of Chi), Scheinert and Kwan will produce under Playgrounds’ deal with Universal. The Director of Production Development Jacqueline Garell and Executive Vice President of Production Development Sara Scott supervise the production of the untitled film.
Kaufman is recently known for his role as Steven, the protagonist’s older brother in The Summer I Turned Pretty. He also made appearances in Manifest as Kevin and Alex Poletov in the drama For All Mankind. He was also the narrator in the US experimental documentary City World. He will also play in the horror film Other Mommy as his character has yet to be revealed.
The film will be released on November 19, 2027.
