Hasbro Announces Plans for a Monopoly Movie and Casts Kevin Hart

In late 2018 comedian Kevin Hart was the subject of some controversy, which led to him stepping down from hosting the Oscars. However it looks like the comedian’s career has not suffered too much, because not only was his latest film The Upside a box office success, but it has just been announced that Hart will be starring in Monopoly.

The film Monopoly is an adaptation of the popular Hasbro board game. The movie will be directed by Tim Story, the director of the Ride Along movies, and is being produced by Lionsgate and Hasbro, through their film production company.

There are not many movies based on board games, and not many of them are considered good movies. Battleship was a box office failure, and most of the movies in the Ouija franchise have received poor reception. Clue is probably the most famous and most successful board game movie, but it had a clever gimmick and an amazing cast. Still Clue does prove that a board game movie can be made.
