‘Glitter And Doom’ Acquired By Music Box Films

Music Box Films has just acquired a new film, Glitter And Doom. From Tom Gustafson and Cory Krueckeberg, the film made its debut as the closer to InsideOut Toronto and is billed as a “fantastical queer romance.”

According to Variety, the story follows a circus dreamer, Glitter (Alex Diaz), and a musician, Doom (Alan Cammish), who fall for each other instantly after meeting. The two are joined by Ming Na-Wen, Missi Pyle, Lea Delaria, Beth Malone, and the duo that makes up the Indigo Girls, Amy Ray and Emily Saliers.

Glitter And Doom made a significant splash after its debut, gaining showings at over 50 LGBTQ+ festivals globally.

The Indigo Girls are of significance to the film. Twenty-five of their songs appear in the film, with Michelle Chamuel arranging the assortment. Some of their popular songs, such as “Get Out The Map” and “World Falls,” are included on the soundtrack, along with the brand-new song “What We Wanna Be,” specially made for the film.

Their work on Glitter And Doom is another highlight of a busy year for Indigo Girls. Earlier this year, one of their songs, “Closer To Fine,” was used in one of this year’s most successful films, Barbie, and a new documentary about the duo, Indigo Girls: It’s Only Life After All, is set to get a theatrical release after making the rounds at Sundance.

“We are forever grateful to Amy & Emily for trusting us with their art and indebted to them for the depth and dynamism their music adds to our story,” Gustafson and Krueckeberg had to say on the film. “We are thrilled to be partnering with Music Box Films to bring our film to a larger audience. We deeply admire their support of independent cinema and are proud Glitter & Doom will be a part of their filmography.”

A theatrical release is scheduled in NYC and Los Angeles on March 8th, 2024, with a VOD and nationwide theatrical run set to follow.
