A24 released the trailer for the upcoming romantic thriller Love Lies Bleeding. Starring Kristen Stewart and Katy O’Brian, this Rose Glass-directed feature follows two lovers who fight for their lives while wrapped up in the world of bodybuilding and crime.
The trailer shows quiet gym manager Lou (Stewart), who struggles to compromise with her criminal father (Ed Harris) and the FBI hunting him. After meeting ambitious bodybuilder Jackie (O’Brian), who is deadset on making it big in Vegas, the two begin a steamy relationship when the latter decides to pass through Lou’s town. Unfortunately, Jackie happens to pick up a new job from Lou’s father, leaving the couple tangled in and fighting for their love, their work, and their dreams. As the tagline promises, “Revenge gets ripped.”
Film4, who co-financed with distributor and producer A24, developed Glass’ sophomore feature debut. Known for her work in the psychological horror Saint Maud, Glass first created the project as a screenplay alongside Weronika Tofilska. The film promises to offer an “off-the-wall, rambunctious lesbian love story” set in a small town with “heightened Americana sensibility.”
Love Lies Bleeding will premiere at the upcoming 2024 Sundance Film Festival and will make a wider release on March 8, 2024.
