Full Cast Reveal for Kenneth Branagh’s ‘Murder on Orient Express’ Sequel ‘Death on the Nile’

One of the smaller hits from 2017 was Kenneth Branagh‘s adaptation of the Agatha Christie novel Murder on the Orient Express. The film served as another interpretation featuring Hercule Poirot and was an attempt to bring back the murder mystery genre with huge ensemble cast.  Given the modest success of the film, making about $352 million worldwide, more film adaptations have been planned from the Cinderella (2015) director. The next installment, Death on the Nile, has announced it’s full cast and much like the last film, it is a huge ensemble.

Branagh returns to not only direct but to also reprise his role as Hercule Poirot for Death on the Nile. Also returning from Murder on Orient Express is Tom Bateman reprising his role as Bouc. Joining the series are Wonder Woman‘s Gal Gadot and Black Panther’s Letitia Wright.

The rest of the cast included for the upcoming sequel are Annette Bening, Russell Brand, Ali Fazal, Dawn French,  Armie Hammer, Rose Leslie, Emma Mackey, Sophie Okonedo, and Jennifer Saunders. While most of the cast features ton of new faces, most of the crew from Murder on the Orient Express will be returning for Death on the Nile. This includes writer Michael Green returning to write the script along with Ridley Scott, Mark Gordon, Simon Kinberg, and Judy Hofflund returning as producers for the film.

With the huge ensemble cast and most of the original film’s crew, this new adaptation of the Agatha Christie novel aims to have the same appeal as Murder on the Orient Express. When Death on the Nile is released, audiences will witness another engaging murder mystery featuring Kenneth Branagh portraying one of the most famous literary characters of all time.

Death on the Nile is set for release October 9th 2020.

Ryan Pineda: When it comes to film, animation, video games and other mediums, I can discuss for hours about how much on why certain films and animated media made me the person I am today. I adore the artistic merit that comes from a lot of pop-culture media and will definitely love to have a conversation about favorite movies any day! I have graduated in 2017 with a BA in Film and Television at the University of Arizona. Been passionate about writing about films due to always having an interesting outlook on the medium. Will always see a film and will definitely be sure to recommend it to someone that I know for a fact would love that movie. Not only that but will also give reasons for why I think that film did or did not work as a movie, and the same can go for other pieces of media like television, video games and especially animated projects.
