Dylan Sprouse to Star in Chinese Opera Adaptation ‘Turandot’

Dylan Sprouse, who is best known for starring alongside his twin brother, Cole, in Disney Channel’s The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, is set to star in a Chinese Opera film with Chinese Actress Guan Xiaotong. Deadline announced this today.

Turandot is an adaptation of Giacomo Puccino’s opera and is being helmed by Xiaolong Zheng. Described as a fantasy romance, the film follows Princess Turandot (Xiaotong), who has been cursed with a mysterious power from three Mazovian bracelets that she received as a birthday gift. The result causes the princess to become cruel as she slowly loses all sense of her humanity. Now it’s up to the foreign princes to save her, by answering a series of riddles, one for each bracelet, in order to free her from the bracelet’s powers; however, one wrong answer means death.

Sprouse would be playing an ordinary citizen (Calaf) who ultimately risks his life to save the princess by answering the riddles, but also uncovers his own extraordinary past.

So far the film is in production with no release date as of yet. Sprouse is also starring in another indie comedy entitled Banana Split.

More on both of these as details are released.
