‘Dune: Part Two’ Crosses $500 Million At The Worldwide Box Office

After releasing in theaters roughly three weeks ago, Dune: Part Two has already cemented its own box office success. The film has made it to $500 million globally, marking it as the first this year to do so.

Dune: Part Two continues director Denis Villeneuve’s epic adaptation of Frank Herbert’s sci-fi novel, following Paul Atreides as he works with the Fremen to take down the sinister Harkonnens.

As well as making it to $500 million, Collider reported that the film has made it past the mark it needed to break even.

Early tracking for the trajectory of Part Two estimates the film does sport a strong chance of reaching $1 billion come the end of its run, but is looking likely to land just below that marker. Regardless of if it can make it up to $1 billion, the film has already passed the worldwide gross of its predecessor.

The first Dune came out in 2021, still following the pandemic practice of releasing on Max the same day as its theater debut. Despite this, the film was still able to make a worldwide total of $433 million.

According to ScreenRant, the top five highest grossing of the year is rounded out by kung Fu Panda 4 ($177 million worldwide), Bob Marley: One Love ($169 million worldwide), The Beekeeper ($152 million worldwide), and Mean Girls ($104 million worldwide).
