Disney’s ‘Jungle Cruise’ Finds the Perfect Villain in Jesse Plemons

According to a Variety Exclusive, Jesse Plemons will officially be chewing scenery as villain in the upcoming Disney film Jungle Cruise. Plemons will be performing alongside other cast villains Jack Whitehall and Edgar Ramirez, and they will be facing up against the leading lady and gentleman Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson. Blunt will also be working with Disney on their new Mary Poppins movie.

Disney seems to get its inspiration from three things: old fairytales and stories in public domain; their previous movies; and bizarrely, their rides. This movie follows the last option. Notably, this worked out great for Pirates of the Caribbean but far less successfully in the Eddie Murphy-starring Haunted Mansion. Still, Disney is reportedly willing to bank that this new ride-based film could earn them a full-on movie franchise.

Fans of Plemons won’t have to wait too long for new content, as his new movie Game Night can assuage audiences until his new movie.
