‘Deadpool 3′ Will Reportedly Take Place in MCU and Will Have a R-Rating

Marvel Studios President Kevin Heige recently confirmed that Deadpool 3 will take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, despite the previous 2 films taking place in the X-Men universe. The film will be the third in the franchise starring actor Ryan Reynolds.

In a recent interview, Marvel Studios’ own Kevin Feige was found stating that: “It will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan’s overseeing a script right now… It will not be [filming] this year. Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor. We’ve got a number of things we’ve already announced that we now have to make, but it’s exciting for it to have begun. Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life.”

The first Deadpool was a huge box office success in 2016 despite its low budget, which resulted in a sequel which received the same positive reaction. The franchise quickly became popular among fans of all ages, but was more geared towards adults unlike many other Marvel films. The franchise has previously been considered part of the X-Men movies, separate from Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe. When Disney bought Fox in early 2019, there was debate if whether Deadpool 3 would be part of the MCU, and how that would change the vulgarness of the film. According to Screen Rant, it has now been confirmed that the film will indeed be part of MCU. Due to the film now being part of Disney, fans were concerned that the new film will be watered down for children, but it has been confirmed from Feige that it will keep its R-rating like the first two in the franchise.

The film’s director and cast is still under wraps, but it is said that Deadpool 3 is expected to begin filming in 2022.

Melissa Cusano: I love to escape reality with reading, writing, movies, and music! If I'm not working I love to go to concerts (pre-covid), play video games, and hang out with my dog Ozzi.
