David Fincher’s Netflix Film ‘Mank’ Gets a Release Date

It has been a while since movie fans have gotten a new David Fincher movie, with the acclaimed filmmaker staying busy producing his hit series Mindhunter and spending time developing World War Z sequel that never came to fruition. But that is to change come October when his new Netflix project, Mank, is expected to release.

Fincher’s newest passion project is based on a screenplay by his own father Jack Fincher and tells the true story behind the making of Citizen Kane, a movie that many consider to be the greatest film ever made. The project will chronicle the relationship between director Orson Welles and the film’s screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz. Additional work on Mank’s screenplay was done by Oscar Winning screenwriter, Eric Roth, most known for his work on Forrest Gump and Fincher’s own The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

It was actually the aforementioned Roth that let the project’s release date leak, on an episode of Pardon My Take, saying the film will release sometime in October a date that makes sense if the film is expected to be an award’s contender.

The film boasts an incredible cast, with Gary Oldman as the title character alongside Tom Burke as Orson Welles, Amanda Seyfried as Marion Davies, Lily Collins as Rita Alexander, and Ozark breakout Tom Pelphrey as Mank’s brother. The project certainly has the talent to be an awards contender and is a highly anticipated film by film lovers everywhere.
