Comic-Con Unveils Latest ‘Snowden’ Trailer

With Comic-Con just getting warmed up down in San Diego, one of the biggest early panels was for Open Road Films’ upcoming film Snowden. This bio of Edward Snowden (already the subject of the Oscar winning documentary Citizenfour) made its Comic-Con appearance, with actors Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Shailene Woodley, Zachary Quinto and director Oliver Stone (making his first Comic-Con appearance) discussing the film as well introducing a brand new trailer.

The panel discussed heavy, if Snowden-appropriate, topics that ranged from civil liberties and the appropriate role of government to tangents on the latest Pokémon Go craze. All apropos when the film itself centers around such a polarizing personality. Snowden, infamously, exposed alarming surveillance activities from the NSA, becoming a hero to some and a traitor to others. Gordon-Levitt portrays him in the upcoming film surrounded by stellar ensemble cast that includes Woodley, Quinto, Tom Wilkinson and Oscar winners Melissa Leo and Nicolas Cage.

The film was originally set to open in theaters last winter and then set for an early summer 2016 release before settling on its latest release date of September 16th. Check out the trailer below.
