Cinedigm Acquires North American Rights to Rom-Com ‘7 Days’ Starring Geraldine Viswanathan and Karan Soni

Cinedigm has bought 7 Days, Roshan Sethi’s feature directorial debut for North American distribution rights. 7 Days follows Ravi (Karan Soni) and Rita (Geraldine Viswanathan), two Indian-Americans who are paired up on a pre-arranged date by their traditional parents. Despite the fact that they appear to have nothing in common at first, they build a bond as the COVID-19 outbreak spreads, and they are compelled to shelter in place together.

The rom-com also stars Zenobia Shroff (The Big Sick), Aparna Nancherla (The Great North), Gita Reddy (Eat Pray Love), and Mark Duplass (The Morning Show).

Along with directing, Sethi wrote the script. Sethi is the writer behind the hit Fox TV series The Resident and CBS series Code Black. Sethi is also the co-writer to the drama Call Jane starring Elizabeth Banks, Kate Mara, Sigourney Weaver, and Wunmi Mosaku.

The Duplass Brothers Mark and Jay are executive producers on the rom-com. They produced films such as Baghead starring Greta Gerwig and Blue Jay starring Sarah Paulson.

“We made this movie as a loving ode to the traditional arranged marriages that raised many of us. The story is meant to both embody and subvert the expectations of romantic comedies,” said Sethi. “We think it’s a love story you haven’t seen before rooted in the hilarity and warmth of Indian-American culture.”

7 Days had its world premiere at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival. Cinedigm has plans to release 7 Days in theaters early next year.
