Starring Vin Diesel and Michael Caine, The Last Witch Hunter features Diesel playing the character Kaulder, the last remaining immortal witch hunter in the world, who sets out to fight a witch uprising and plague in modern-day New York. The witches wish to wipe out humanity with their plague, and Kaulder finds himself teaming up with a witch to stop it, something that goes against everything he believes in.
Vin Diesel stars alongside Michael Caine, playing a Catholic priest who writes the histories of his exploits, along with Rose Leslie (Game of Thrones), Elijah Wood (The Lord of the Rings), and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (A Walk Among the Tombstones). Kaulder, the last remaining member of the Axe and Cross organization, has spent centuries hunting witches and protecting the human world from the denizens of the supernatural world. But now, Kaulder must partner with a witch named Chloe, played by Leslie, to stop the plague from ravaging the world.
Diesel most recently starred in Furious 7 and Guardians of the Galaxy and is currently filming another project, Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk. He will also reportedly be returning as Xander Cage in xXx: The Return of Xander Cage and as Dominic Toretto in the eighth installment of the Fast and Furious franchise, simply titled Furious 8 for now.
The Last Witch Hunter is directed by Breck Eisner (The Crazies) and was written by Cory Goodman, Burk Sharpless, and Matt Sazama. It was produced through Summit Entertainment and Lionsgate, and is set for an October 23, 2015 release.
