Check Out the Nifty New Character Posters for Tom Ford’s ‘Nocturnal Animals’

Fashion icon Tom Ford made striking impression with his debut film A Single Man seven years ago. Strikingly composed, elegantly mounted and ambitiously adapted from Christopher Isherwood’s novel, the film stroke a chord with critics and art-house audiences and earned Colin Firth an Oscar nomination for his commanding lead turn. Ford is back at the helm with the upcoming Nocturnal Animals, a film which may actually be a couple notches further on terms of difficulty. Alluring new character one-sheets made their debuts today, affirming that effort, if nothing, will likely be exquisitely rendered.

Based on the novel Tony and Susan by Austin Wright, Nocturnal Animals tells the dual story of an art gallery owner (portrayed by Amy Adams) haunted and threatened by the novel of her ex-husband (played by Jake Gyllenhaal). The film digs deeper also showcasing the events of the manuscript itself, violent revenge tale that Adams’ Susan sees an veiled threat. The illustrious ensemble cast includes Laura Linney (The Savages), Michael Shannon (99 Homes), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Godzilla), Isla Fisher (The Great Gatsby), Armie Hammer (The Man From U.N.C.L.E.), Karl Glusman (The Neon Demon), Andrea Riseborough (Birdman), Michael Sheen (Masters of Sex) and Jena Malone (Lovesong). Ford also penned the screenplay.

And from the looks of things, it appears Ford may have a winner. The film made its world premiere last week at the ongoing Venice Film Festival and has earned generous critical notices so far. The Telegraph‘s Robbie Collin wrote, “Everything that works in Nocturnal Animals is intoxicating, provocative, delicious – and happily, so is everything that doesn’t” while Variety‘s Owen Gleiberman’s warm review stated “Tom Ford’s first film since A Single Man is another winner, an ambitious high-wire noir thriller with Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal in an explosive tale of love, violence, and revenge.” The film’s next test will occur when it screens at the Toronto Film Festival.

Focus Features will release Nocturnal Animals on November 18th. Check out the freshly released character posters below.
