Surprise! Marvel Studios and Disney dropped the latest teaser of Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2. The second installment in the Guardians sector of the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes off the heels of the delightfully retro success of the first installment, which earned over $700 million at the worldwide box office in the summer of 2014. Vol. 2 finds the gang of misfits back – Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper) and Groot (voiced, sparingly, by Vin Diesel) – and sets them up for another adventure, before they likely sign up for Avengers: Infinity War duty.
James Gunn returns to the director’s chair and penned the screenplay for this “Awesome Mixtape #2.” There’s newcomers to the mix as well, including the introductions of Elizabeth Debicki’s Ayesha and Kurt Russell‘s Ego. Sylvester Stallone and Nathan Fillion also join in on the fun this go around. Also new to the Guardians tent and getting a shout-out in the tag of latest trailer is the introduction of the alien character Mantis, played by newcomer Pom Klementieff.
