Perhaps unsurprisingly, Bill Murray (Rock the Kasbah) is set to re-team with longtime collaborator Wes Anderson (The Grand Budapest Hotel) joining the voice cast of the director’s latest as-of-now untitled stop-motion animated movie. Murray (who received an Oscar nominated for his soulful work in Sofia Coppola’s 2003 film Lost in Translation) has appeared in some capacity in all of Anderson’s feature films with the exception of his 1996 debut Bottle Rocket. So not much of a surprise.
Murray joins a voice team that will be populated with many Anderson regulars including Jeff Goldblum (The Grand Budapest Hotel), Bob Balaban (Moonrise Kingdom) and Edward Norton (Moonrise Kingdom). Bryan Cranston, currently in theaters in the bio Trumbo and multiple Emmy winner for his acclaimed role in the television series Breaking Bad, is also to be a part of the cast.
The plot of the film is currently being kept under wrap but the film is centered around a group of dogs and Murray let it slip that the film will have a Japanese feel to it. “I’m playing a dog. He’s doing another, like a stop motion animated kind of comedy sort of like Fantastic Mr. Fox, ” Murray stated, adding, “And it’s a Japanese story and I’m playing a dog. I’m very excited.” So we shall stay tuned to the latest developments.
Murray can currently be seen in the Netflix special A Very Murray Christmas recently starred in the box office flop Rock the Kasbah and Cameron Crowe’s Aloha. Next year looks to be full slate for the legendary comedic actor as he will appear in Paul Feig’s updated Ghostbusters as well as use his vocal talents in both The Jungle Book and B.O.O.: Bureau of Otherworldly Operations.
