‘Avengers: Endgame’ Stuns Worldwide Box Office with $1.2 Billion Opening

The epic, highly-anticipated culmination event of the last 10 years of Marvel films has been standing up to the hype, and then some. After its release this past Thursday night, Avengers: Endgame has already earned $1.2 billion worldwide, making it the highest earning opening weekend ever.

Endgame completely knocked the previous record out the water, which was held by Infinity War at $640 billion.

The record for the North American box office was also shattered this weekend, as Endgame brought in about $350 million, almost $100 million more than Infinity War‘s opening last May.

The international intake for the film was $859 million, $329 million of which came from China alone. Both numbers of course, breaking records.

In total, the 22 Marvel films of the last decade have generated over $20 billion around the world. Goes to show just how enamored the world is with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, who indeed have made their mark around the planet.

Though Endgame is the last of an era of Marvel films, this is definitely not the end. Now Marvel is moving ahead into a new phase with new heroes such as The Eternals and Shang-chi. Big announcements are surely yet to come, but for now the world is still watching as the heroes we’ve come to know and love have their grand finale.
