‘Avatar 2’ Title Revealed: ‘The Way of Water’ Releases in December

The highly anticipated Avatar sequel reveals the title as The Way of Water. This week, the title debuted at CinemaCon alongside the first look at the film for panel attendees. Next week, the teaser will also premiere in front of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. CinemaCon attendees were provided with 3D glasses to view the teaser trailer.

Producer Jon Landau made the presentation with director James Cameron joining virtually while shooting in New Zealand, apologizing for his in-person absence.

Landau said: “At the center of each of the four sequels will be the Sully family. Each story will be a stand-alone, and each will come to its own conclusion.”

Cameron added: “I just want you to hear it from me: Jon and I are here to work with you. The best way is by delivering content that is a must-see experience at the cinema.”

The titles for the three other sequel films were also revealed as Avatar 3: The Seed Bearer, Avatar 4: The Tulkun Rider, and Avatar 5: The Quest for Eywa. If everything goes according to plan, these films will be released in 2024, 2026, and 2028, respectively.

Avatar: The Way of Water releases this holiday on December 16 and stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Kate Winslet, Michelle Yeoh, and Giovanni Ribisi.
