Angourie Rice Joins ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’

Rising young Australian actress Angourie Rice recently made a memorable screen presence in the recently released comedic noir The Nice Guys. Greener pastures await as The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Rice has joined the cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming, that latest incarnation of the comic book webslinger, rather historic joint venture between Sony and Marvel Studios. Tom Holland, who will headline the latest reboot, recently debuted his take on Spider-Man/Peter Parker to enthusiastic reviews in Captain America: Civil War

Rice’s role, as expected at this point, are being kept quiet but she joins a stellar ensemble that includes seasoned actors Marisa Tomei, Michael Keaton, Logan Marshall-Green and an appearance from Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man. The eclectic ensemble will include quite mixture of talents like comedy pros Donald Glover (The Martian), Hannibal Buress (Daddy’s Boy) and Martin Starr (Silicon Valley) as well as rising younger actors like Abraham Attah (Beasts of No Nation), Zendaya, Michael Barbieri, Laura Harrier and Tony Revolori (The Grand Budapest Hotel). Jon Watts is directing and the movie is currently in production in Atlanta.

For Rice, who recently appeared in Walking with Dinosaurs and next will co-star in the indie Jasper Jones alongside Hugo Weaving and Toni Collette, Spider-Man: Homecoming may prove a great building block. Rice earned strong reviews for her work in Shane Black’s The Nice Guys, ably holding her own opposite big-screen heavyweights Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling.

Spider-Man: Homecoming opens in theaters on July 7. 2017.
