Fox Searchlight has set a release date of April 12, 2017 for Marc Webb’s child prodigy drama Gifted, starring Chris Evans (Captain America: Civil War) and newcomer Mckenna Grace. The film is currently in post-production.
Tom Flynn penned the script, which centers on a 7 year-old math genius (Grace) being raised by her single uncle (Evans) in a coastal town in Florida. Lindsay Duncan (Alice Through the Looking Glass) plays the girl’s imposing mother. Jenny Slate (Zootopia) plays the girl’s teacher who develops close connection with Evans’ character. Re-teaming with Evans is Academy Award-winning actress Octavia Spencer (Allegiant) who plays Evans’ friend and landlord; the two worked together on Joon-ho Bong’s Snowpiercer.
Karen Lunder and Andy Cohen are producing.
