During the ongoing defamation trial in which Johnny Depp is suing ex-wife Amber Heard for $50 million, the actress claimed that her role in Aquaman 2 was cut down after Depp’s lawyer called her abuse claims a ‘hoax’.
Depp is suing Amber Heard for a 2018 op-ed article in the Washington Post, roughly about two years after their divorce, in which she speaks of herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse”. Even though Mr. Depp is not explicitly mentioned in the article, he now claims that it hurt his reputation as an actor and has consequently lost many lucrative acting roles in the past few years.
After a week-long break, the very public defamation trial between the Hollywood actor and his ex-wife has taken on yet another twist. According to Variety, Amber Heard was “actively scheduling timing for filming” for her role as Mera in the upcoming Aquaman sequel until Depp’s legal team publicly called her a liar. The actress says that shortly after “communications” with Warner Brothers “stopped at that point”.
Many familiar faces will return for the sequence, such as Jason Momoa, Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe, Dolph Lundgren, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom directed by James Wan is scheduled to release on March 27, 2023.
