Alec Baldwin Returns To Acting For The First Time Since ‘Rust’

Deadline has reported on Alec Baldwin’s return to acting for the first time since Rust. On October 21st, 2021, on the set of Rust a prop gun in the hands of Baldwin was fired, which injured director Joel Souza and led to the death of cinematographer Halayna Hutchins. Baldwin has not appeared on any new production since Hutchins’ death on the set of Rust.

Baldwin has made his return to acting in the midst of the Rust controversy. The Hollywood star will be appearing in two new films, Kid Santa and Billie’s Magic World. These two Christmas movies will be shot in Rome and will utilize both live-action and animation elements. William Baldwin, Alec Baldwin’s brother, will also be appearing in these films.

The success of these films hinges on audiences being comfortable seeing Baldwin on screen again after the happening on the set of Rust. There is currently still an ongoing lawsuit against Baldwin and others on the crew of Rust involved in the fatal incident. The results of this lawsuit could have a major effect on these upcoming Christmas films.

The films will be directed by Francesco Cinquemani who is known for The Poison Rose and Christmas Thieves. The release dates for these two films have not yet been confirmed.

Jackson Fanelli: I am currently pursuing my masters degree in Creative Writing from Full Sail University. My life passions revolve around artistic expression through both writing and acting. I was introduced to the arts through acting in musicals and plays. I hope to pursue screenwriting for television. I have an interest in studying the arts and what interests audiences which has led me to writing about films at MXDWN.
