Alan Arkin Becomes Newest Actor to Join Star-Studded ‘Dumbo’ Cast

Dumbo was one of the most bizarre Disney animated films, with the pink elephant scene scarring multitude of children and some adults alike. Now Tim Burton has his hands on the live-action remake, and yet another powerful actor has been added. Alan Arkin, an Oscar-winning actor who has played in Argo and Little Miss Sunshine, has joined the cast as business tycoon J. Griffin Remington, whose role in the film has yet to be truly identified, according to Variety.

This iteration of Dumbo will focus on former circus man Holt Farrier who returns from the war to find his circus in shambles. Max Medici, the circus owner, gives Dumbo the elephant to Farrier to raise. Dumbo had become the center of much taunting because of his large ears, but after Farrier’s children discover that Dumbo can fly, two people, an entrepreneur and an aerial artist, want to make Dumbo a star.

The cast is absolutely stunning, with Colin Farrell (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) as Holt, Danny DeVito (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) as Max, Michael Keaton (Birdman) as the entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere, and Eva Green (Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children) as the artist Colette Marchant. Dumbo looks to have a release date of March 29th, 2019.
