Actor Henry Cavill Rumored to Appear in ‘Captain Marvel 2’ as Wolverine

The Marvel and DC Cinematic Universe are dealing with some crossovers of their own, with actors from both sides appearing in various films. Now a new rumored has occurred, with one of DC’s most recognized actors starring in an upcoming Marvel film as an unlikely character. Henry Cavill, who played Superman from Man of Steel to Justice League, is rumored to be in talks to star in the Captain Marvel sequel as X-Men‘s Wolverine.

Not much has stated about whether or not this rumor is confirmed, but the potential to have the Man of Steel become Wolverine is truly a fascinating one. Of course this is mainly due to the Fox merger, as Disney is gearing up to have the Fox Marvel properties like X-Men and Fantastic Four appear in the MCU. Therefore, having Wolverine make his first appearance in Captain Marvel 2 makes some sense, considering how Disney may want to introduce these characters through sequesl as opposed to creating a brand new X-Men movie entirely.

Unfortunately, Disney cannot get Hugh Jackman back due to Fox retiring the character in 2017’s Logan. So it was inevitable that most of the X-Men cast will be played by potentially different actors. Plus, with Cavill no longer playing Superman in any upcoming DC films, it makes sense for the actor to take on a different role. Some may argue that Cavill isn’t a good fit for Wolverine due to comic character’s height, but more likely it’s because Jackman was so iconic in the role that it will be hard to top. Nevertheless, the potential of seeing a former Superman actor fighting alongside Brie Larson as one of Marvel’s most iconic characters could make for a very interesting collaboration.

Ryan Pineda: When it comes to film, animation, video games and other mediums, I can discuss for hours about how much on why certain films and animated media made me the person I am today. I adore the artistic merit that comes from a lot of pop-culture media and will definitely love to have a conversation about favorite movies any day! I have graduated in 2017 with a BA in Film and Television at the University of Arizona. Been passionate about writing about films due to always having an interesting outlook on the medium. Will always see a film and will definitely be sure to recommend it to someone that I know for a fact would love that movie. Not only that but will also give reasons for why I think that film did or did not work as a movie, and the same can go for other pieces of media like television, video games and especially animated projects.
