The forthcoming sequel to the profitable 2015 comic-book adaptation Kingsman: The Secret Service may be quite the starry affair. Deadline reports Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry (The Call) is in talks to join the second installment of the action-comedy. The first film made over $400 million at the worldwide box office and helped sculpt the career of rising British actor Taron Egerton (Eddie the Eagle).
If talks work out, Berry may be portraying the head of the CIA and may looking for future Kingsman work if the franchise extends further. This would bring the Monster’s Ball actress back into the 20th Century Fox mold, where she has played the role of Storm in four X-Men films. Kingsman 2 will bring Egerton back on for his role of Gary “Eggsy” Unwim, the street smart, if unpolished youngster brought on the uber-posh secret spy organization. The material originates from the graphic novels by Dave Gibbons and Mark Millar. Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass) is rumored to return to the director’s chair for the second installment and Oscar winning actress Julianne Moore (Still Alice) appears likely to join the cast as the films’ villain.
The first Kingsman starred the Colin Firth (The King’s Speech), Samuel L. Jackson (The Hateful Eight), Mark Strong (The Brothers Grimsby), Sofia Boutella (Star Trek: Beyond) and Michael Caine (Youth).
We will stay tuned to the latest developments.
