The roster for Ava DuVernay’s A Wrinkle in Time adaptation continues to impress. The film’s most recent casting announcement includes comedian Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover) portraying a character named Happy Medium, a man who is able to view different times and places. The children’s classic already has Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, Chris Pine, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw and the addition of Galifianakis makes for a wonderful ensemble. Bellamy Young (Scandal) and André Holland (Moonlight) flesh out the team.
If you are not familiar with the classic story of A Wrinkle in Time it centers around a young girl named Meg Murry (Storm Reid). Meg is a young school girl who embarks on an epic adventure through space and time with her younger brother and a school friend. The adolescent adventurers are desperately searching for Meg’s father, a scientist who has mysteriously disappeared years prior.
Shooting is set to begin later this month in Los Angeles.
Galifianakis can be seen on his popular Funny or Die sketch series Between Two Ferns, recently having a chat with Hillary Clinton or his latest features, Keeping Up with the Joneses and Masterminds.
