xXx: The Return of Xander Cage is upon us! Paramount has revived the Revolution Studios action packed xXx franchise and has dropped a brand new trailer for all to enjoy.
The xXx franchise has been on hiatus since 2005’s less than spectacular xXx: State of the Union, starring Ice Cube. Vin Diesel returns roughly fourteen years later as the rugged adrenaline junkie turned spy, Xander Cage.
Xander’s return is inevitable when he is left for dead. He secretly returns to the world of spies for a new and much tougher assignment. Of course, a xXx movie is nothing without Samuel L. Jackson, as Augustus Gibbons, overseeing the entire operation. From the looks of it, the film will be going back to its roots showcasing massive extreme sports and action sequences.
The third installment is directed by D.J. Caruso. Caruso is a well-known action-thriller specialist. A film like this is right in his wheelhouse and something he could handle with ease. Caruso’s resume includes popular titles such as; Disturbia, Eagle Eye, and Taking Lives. We shouldn’t worry much, xXx: The Return of Xander Cage appears to be in good hands.
xXx: The Return of Xander Cage is set to be unleashed in theaters January 20th, 2017. The film also includes performances from Nina Dobrev, Toni Collette, Ruby Rose, and Tony Jaa.
