The writer behind some of the most popular comic book adaptations in recent history found success by staying out of the picture. David S. Goyer has an impressive list of writing credits, although his name is rarely shown onscreen. Goyer is best known for writing the Blade trilogy, which was adapted from a popular Marvel comic series and introduced moviegoers to a much darker style of super heroism.
Many people are unaware that Goyer helped write all three of director Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight films before he turned them into hit franchise. Goyer also penned the screenplay for Man of Steel (2013) with Nolan, which was directed by Zack Snyder and successfully reinvented that film franchise as well. Goyer’s name, however, will be on the big screen next month for writing Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice with Oscar winner Chris Terrio (Argo).
David S. Goyer has been the driving force behind the growing demand for comic book adaptations ever since Blade was released in 1998. Once Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is released in theaters it might become more difficult to keep his name out of the credits. Goyer has not announced plans for any new projects, but it’s doubtful that he’ll have any trouble finding work.
