Worst Heroes Ever: Brand New ‘Suicide Squad’ Trailer Arrives

With the hum of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” in the background comes a feverish brand new trailer for the eagerly anticipated Suicide Squad. The trailer made its premiere on tonight’s episode of The Flash on The CW for further synergy, but as has been showcased before the energy, humor and dark-tinted anarchy of Suicide Squad has already made it one of the more enticing of the 2016 superhero offerings.

The premise seems fairly straightforward: a band of DC Comics’ superest villains are brought together to execute a dangerous black ops missions in exchange for clemency. Hardly straightforward when the band of characters we are dealing with include Deadshot (Will Smith), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Enchantress (Cara Delevingne), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Rick Flagg (Joel Kinnaman), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) and the infamous Joker (Jared Leto, stepping into mighty tall shoes following the late Heath Ledger’s Oscar winning performance in the same role for 2008’s The Dark Knight).

The ensemble cast is rounded out by Oscar nominee Viola Davis (The Help), Common (Selma), Adam Beach (Flags of Our Fathers), Jay Hernandez (Hostel), Scott Eastwood (Fury) and features at the very least an appearance from Ben Affleck as the Caped Crusader. The grit on display seems apropos considering David Ayer (End of WatchFury) wrote and directed the feature.

Suicide Squad opens in theaters on August 5, 2016. Warner Bros. and DC have a big year ahead, kicking off their hopeful cinematic universe with the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice on March 25, 2016. Check out the latest trailer of Suicide Squad below:
