Woody Harrelson stars in Bobby Farrelly’s Comedy ‘Champions’

Woody Harrelson stars in a new film directed by Bobby Farrelly and wirtten by Mark Rizzo. Rizzo writes a beautiful comedy titled Champions, that follows Harrelson’s character as a backetball coach.

The film tells the story of Harrelson’s character, Marcus Aldridge, who was a former minor-league basketball coach, due to some missteps along the way is ordered community service by the court. His duty is to manage a basketball team of players with disabilities.

Feeling uncertain about the assignment at first and unsure of the group’s potential as a team, Marcus realizes that competing with them in the Special Olympics could be a step towards getting his old job back and coaching in the NBA. The group goes further than he thought and he likes the team he is working with.

Champions is Farrelly’s solo directorial debut. Farrelly has previously co-directed comedy films such as There’s Something About Mary, Shallow Hull, and Whole Pass. He also directed Dumb and Dumber Toe alongside his younger brother Peter Farrelly. The Farrellies had previously worked with Harrelson in the 1996 bowling comedy Kingpin.

The movie is produced by Focus Features. Alongside Harrelson, the film also features Kaitlin Olson, Ernie Hudson, Cheech Marin, and  Matt Cook.

Champions is set to release in theaters March 24, 2023. Watch the trailer below!
