‘Where’d You Go, Bernadette’ – Billy Crudup Joins the Case

The ensemble cast for Richard Linklater‘s forthcoming Where’d You Go, Bernadette continues to take shape as Deadline reports Billy Crudup has joined the film. The announcement comes on the heels of the already announced principle players – 2-time Oscar winner Cate Blanchett will headline the drama – based on Maria Sample’s admired 2012 novel – and comedy vet Kristen Wiig will co-star. The film is in the hands of AnnaPurna and comes from a screenplay penned by Linklater, Holly Gent Palmo and Vince Palmo.

The story centers on Bernadette, a Seattle-based wife and mother (and former architect) who goes missing just as the family is about to head on a trip to Antarctica. The story deepens as Bee, Bernadatte’s 15-year-old daughter, leads the search for her mother who which reveals details of her mother’s troubled life. Wiig will play Audrey, a rival neighbor while Crudup will portray Elgin, Bernadette’s husband, an enterprising computer scientist who works at Microsoft.

Crudup’s casting marks what’s been a productive period for the Watchmen star. His recent credits include Best Picture winner Spotlight and the Oscar nominated art house hits Jackie and 20th Century Women. He can currently be seen in theaters in Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant. Coming up, the actor is slated to portray Barry Allen’s father in Warner Bros.’ standalone DC Comics adaptation The Flash. Crudup also will soon appear in the Netflix series Gypsy starring Naomi Watts.
