A new trailer has surfaced for the upcoming YA sci-fi adaptation The 5th Wave starring Chloe Grace Moretz (If I Stay), Nick Robinson (Jurassic World), Liev Schreiber (Pawn Sacrifice), and Ron Livingston (The End of the Tour). The movie follows Cassie Sullivan (Moretz) who managed to survive the the first four waves of an alien invasion, leaving her to face the fifth and final wave of the invasion. Maika Monroe (It Follows) and Tony Revolori (Dope) also star in the film.
Moretz first joined the project in 2014 right before her film If I Stay, another film adaptation hit theaters. Since then, she’s starred in The Equalizer and the thriller Dark Places. She’s set to star in the upcoming revenge drama November Criminals as well as the comedy sequel Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising.
The 5th Wave is the first book in a three-part book series. Sony is likely hoping to pick up where The Hunger Games series is leaving off with the final film in that series releasing in November. It remains to be seen whether audiences will adopt this series or shift their focus to the currently running Divergent or Maze Runner series.
