Warner Bros. Set To Unveil ‘She Creates Change’ Series About Gender Equality

Room to Read, a global non-profit dedicated to combating illiteracy and gender disparities in education, has joined forces with Warner Bros. Discovery to unveil She Creates Change, an innovative series combining animation and live-action narratives aimed at championing gender equality through the stories of young women worldwide.

Scheduled for release on March 8, 15, and 22 to coincide with International Women’s Day, the series will air on the Discovery ASIA channel across several Asian countries including Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. Additionally, audiences in Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka can catch it on TLC and Discovery+ India channels.

She Creates Change comprises six animated shorts accompanied by mini-documentaries, showcasing the journeys of six young women from historically marginalized communities in Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, and Vietnam. Each episode delves into the unique challenges these girls face, such as harassment, food insecurity, and early marriage, highlighting their resilience and determination to shape their futures.

Dr. Geetha Murali, CEO of Room to Read, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery, emphasizing the series’ potential to empower the 432 million adolescent girls worldwide with inspiring narratives. She underscored the importance of providing relatable role models and quality multimedia content to help girls overcome societal norms.

With a women-led creative team and backing from acclaimed figures such as Freida Pinto and Brenda Chapman, She Creates Change boasts an impressive lineup of voice talents including Prajakta Koli, Charithra Chandran, and Dilshad Vadsaria. The animation, directed by a diverse group of women, promises a visually compelling experience.

The series has already garnered recognition, being selected for prestigious festivals like Tribeca Festival and Manchester Animation Festival. It is set to premiere as a feature-length film at SXSW EDU Film Program on March 5, 2024.

Moreover, the launch of She Creates Change coincides with Room to Read’s flagship fundraising campaign, ‘You Create Change,’ aimed at raising $10 million to further support girls’ education and gender equality initiatives.

In essence, She Creates Change symbolizes a collaborative effort to amplify the voices of young women, fostering empowerment and paving the way for a more equitable future.
