Venom Prepares to Face Off Against New Villain in First Trailer for ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’

Inseparable duo Eddie Brock and Venom are back at it again for a sequel to the 2018 Sony and Marvel film Venom. Tom Hardy returns as Brock, along with Michelle Williams, for this second installment titled Venom: Let There Be Carnage, for which the first official trailer was unveiled today.

This first look guarantees a return to the humor of the first film that comes from the antics between Venom and Brock, who inhabiting the same body, bicker sarcastically throughout. The star of this trailer though is the new villain they will be facing this time around, played by Woody Harrelson.

Harrelson is Cletus Kasady, who after a bit of lab experimentation à la what was seen in the first film, is transformed into Venom’s nemesis Carnage. In the comics Kasady was Brock’s cellmate, a relationship that is hinted at briefly in this clip. He was known for being a particularly brutal sadist with no regard for life. His appearance and abilities are on par with that of Venom, making him an intimidating opponent that fought both him and Spider-Man (though it is unlikely that Spider-Man will make an appearance in this film).

Directed by Andy Serkis, who is taking up the director’s chair for the fifth time with this project, the film will be released only in theaters on September 24.
