Upcoming ‘Flash’ Movie Lands Director in Author Seth Grahame-Smith

It seems that the hero dubbed ‘the fastest man alive’ has found a director for his first feature film in author Seth Grahame-Smith. He is the mind responsible for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and Pride and Prejudice and Zombiesbut will now move on to directing as he has entered negotiations to not only direct, but also write the screenplay for The Flash, according the The Hollywood Reporter.

With the inception of the DC Universe in the upcoming Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, out next March, Warner Bros. is wasting no time delivering more movies from the marquee of comic book characters. This might be the reason Superman films have recently been put on the back-burner.

This will be the directorial debut for Smith, whose previous work primarily includes novels and screenplays. He wrote the 2013 Tim Burton and Johnny Depp film Dark Shadows and the adaptation of his own novel, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Recently he’s been linked to penning the scripts for Beetlejuice 2 and The Lego Batman Movie.

The project has already landed a lead actor for the title role of the The Flash in Ezra Miller, best known for his role as Patrick in the young adult novel adaptation, The Perks of Being Wallflower. He is currently shooting the Harry Potter spin-off Fantastical Beasts and Where to Find Them in London.

The Flash will be introduced into the DC Universe in the previously mentioned Batman v. Superman film. From there, his role will increase in the first Justice League film leading up to his stand alone film scheduled to hit theaters on March 3rd, 2018.

Currently, The Flash is on the smaller screen as a series on The CW Network, now in its second season.

The duo responsible for The Lego Movie, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, already have a treatment for the film. With a director, lead actor and script already in place, The Flash looks to be in a good position to successfully spin-off what will (most likely) be the massive success of the Batman and Superman face off.
