Upcoming Chippendales Movie Finds Director and Star

The word ‘Chippendale’ has different meanings. When someone says Chippendale they could be referring to Chippendale furniture and its creator Thomas Chippendale, or they might be referencing Disney’s chipmunk characters, Chip and Dale. But for many people the word Chippendale will mean the male strip tease dancers.

While the Chippendales are best known for their iconic bow tie collars that are worn without shirts, the dance group also harbors a dark secret. In 1987 the Chippendales’ founder, Somen Banerjee, hired hitman to kill Nick De Noia, his choreographer, and several other people. Now according to according to Screen Rant a movie based on these murders is moving into production.

The story of the Chippendales’ movie will be about Banerjee’s journey starting with the founding of the Chippendales dancers and it will follow him to his demise when he hires his assassin.

Actor Dev Patel has just been cast as the founder Somen “Steve” Banerjee. Patel is best known for his starring role in Slumdog Millionaire and for playing Prince Zuko in the live action movie adaptation of The Last Airbender. The Chippendale’s movie will be directed by Craig Gillespie, who directed I, Tonya, and the director for Disney’s upcoming Cruella movie.
