Tom Hanks Comments on Whether He Would Star in a Marvel Movie While Promoting New Film, ‘Finch’

Tom Hanks, one of Hollywood’s most respected actors, visited Jason Bateman,  Will Arnett and Sean Hayes’ podcast, SmartLess, to discuss his upcoming film, Finch. During the interview Hanks is asked if he would ever be in Marvel movie. To which, Hanks replied that the offer has never been extended to him. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is no stranger to tapping great actors to star in their movies like Kurt Russell, Robert Redford, and, in the future possibly, Bill Murray.

Hanks went on to comment that he feels if he was asked to be in a Marvel movie he wouldn’t play a superhero.

“And I think that if one of these days they will, they’d say, ‘Is there any way you’d consider playing a secretary of defense?’ You know, a guy who comes and says, ‘Please, help us Ultraman, we can’t survive!’ I’d be one of those guys. I don’t get to play the punk,” Hanks jokes.

Hanks’ new film, Finch follows a robot, a man, and his dog on a post-apocalyptic Earth. Directed by Miguel Sapochnik (Repo Men) and written by Craig Luck and Ivor Powell. The film stars Tom Hanks, Caleb Landry Jones, Samira Wiley, Laura Harrier, and Skeet Ulrich.

Finch is now available exclusively on Apple TV.
