Tina Fey Starrer ‘Taliban Shuffle’ Changes its Name to ‘Whiskey Tango Foxtrot’

The upcoming war comedy The Taliban Shuffle starring Tina Fey has gone through a shuffle of its own, at least as far as the title is concerned. The dark comedy will now be called Whiskey Foxtrot Tango, the Phonetic Alphabet way of saying “WTF.”

The film is based on the memoir The Taliban Shuffle: Strange Days in  Afghanistan by journalist Kim Baker that told her stories of covering the war in Afghanistan and Iraq. Tina Fey (Sisters) stars as Baker and is producing the project. Margot Robbie (Suicide Squad), Billy Bob Thornton (Bad Santa 2), Martin Freeman (The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies), Josh Charles (I Smile Back), Alfred Molina (Secret in Their Eyes), and Christopher Abbott (James White) also star in the film.

Title changes are not uncommon, particularly before release. The action film Edge of Tomorrow was originally shared the title All You Need is Kill with its source material, later to be changed to Live, Die, Repeat: Edge of Tomorrow for the home video release. The music drama Begin Again was originally titled Can a Song Save Your Life? before test audiences said the title was confusing.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot will release March 4, 2016.
