Tiffany Hadish & Billy Crystal’s Upcoming Film ‘Here Today’ Picked Up By Sony Pictures

The upcoming dramedy Here Today starring Tiffany Haddish and Billy Crystal has been picked up by Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions’ Stage 6 Films and is set to be released in theaters on May 7th. Crystal also directed the film, which marks his eighth time directing and his third on feature film. The screenplay was written by Crystal and his fellow Saturday Night Live alum and writer Alan Zweibel. The film is inspired by the short story The Prize also written by Zweibel.

Crystal stated, “I am thrilled that Here Today will be in theaters with real people soon. It was a joy to write with my dear friend Alan Zweibel. To get to act with and direct the hilarious Tiffany Haddish and our fantastic cast was a blessing. I haven’t been this excited since I got my second Moderna vaccine”.

According to DeadlineHere Today follows a veteran comedy writer Charlie Burnz (Crystal), who is at a crossroads in his life when he meets New York singer Emma Payge (Haddish). The two form an unlikely yet comical and touching friendship. Zweibel published his original short story The Prize in his eBook From the Bottom Drawer of: Alan Zweibel in 2011. He and Crystal decided to adapt the short story into a screenplay with Haddish in mind.

Alongside Crystal and Haddish, Here Today also stars Penn Badgley (You, Gossip Girl), Laura Benanti (Younger), Louisa Krause (Billions), Anna Deavere Smith (Black-ish), and Nyambi Nyambi (The Good Fight). The film is produced by Astute Films in association with Face Productions and Big Head Productions.
