‘The Matrix’ is Returning to Theaters for the First Time in IMAX

The year was 1999 and the month was March when The Matrix first arrived in cinemas and it turned into a surprise hit. While the world was embracing the new idea of the internet and virtual reality, The Matrix tapped into those ideas and even made some of us question what was real and what wasn’t. The Wachowskis had a clever idea and presented the world is such a way that the impact of The Matrix was groundbreaking. From the amazing action sequences, bullet time display, interesting storyline and memorable characters have sealed The Matrix into science fiction fame.

It’s been eighteen years since the release of The Matrix Revolutions and now that Resurrections is less than a month away, it has been announced that the one that started it all will be releasing in select theaters across the country. This will be the first time ever that The Matrix will be playing on IMAX screens. The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions were released in IMAX but this will mark the debut of the original film on that screen. It will be only a two-day special showing so it’s better to order your tickets as soon as you can! The showtimes will be on December 7 and December 8 respectively.

What an appropriate way to prepare for the upcoming fourth entry in this sci-fi epic that grabbed our attention so many years ago! We can rejoice in the glory of seeing Neo, Trinity, Morpheus and of course, Agent Smith on the IMAX screen. We’ll hear that iconic musical soundtrack and revel in entering the matrix once again. Tickets are on sale now so don’t miss your chance to see one of the most defining films of the late ’90s return to the biggest screen!

So, free your mind and get ready to ask yourself, “What is the Matrix?”

Rick Rice: A kid at heart who has loved watching movies from a very young age. Credit must be given to Siskel and Ebert whose film reviews educated me on the world of film inspired me to become a writer myself. I love to read books that range from various topics, copious amounts of research is something that excites me and of course sitting in a movie theater is a highlight of my life. When I'm not watching movies or reading I enjoy listening to foreign music and working hard on finishing my short stories. Currently working on my degree in English with a plan to enroll into Film School with the dream of becoming a screenwriter and director.
