Judd Apatow’s highly anticipated comedy The King of Staten Island just dropped its official red band trailer.
The comedy stars Saturday Night Live actor Pete Davidson as Scott, 20 something with no big plans or even a job. Scott is desperately trying to hold onto his youth, even as his younger sister (Maude Apatow) heads off to college. When his mother starts dating a fireman (Bill Burr), he realizes he has to move forward in life.
The film has Davidson in his first leading role in a feature film. The film is semi-autobiographical for Davidson as the coming of age film incorporates events from his own life growing up on Staten Island.
Davidson stars in the film alongside veteran actors Marisa Tomei and Steve Buscemi.
Apatow directed the film, and he co-wrote the script alongside Davidson and former SNL writer Dave Sirus. Additionally, Apatow produced the film under his banner Apatow Productions.
The film was initially set to premiere at SXSW and then Tribeca Film Festival, but due to the coronavirus and social distancing, both events have been canceled; the comedy is set to go straight to on-demand.
The King of Staten Island will premier on VOD on June 12.
