Warner Bros is returning to the big screen this Friday with the long anticipation of seeing Robert Pattinson as Batman. Before the event, Warner Bros premiered previews Tuesday night of Matt Reeves’s The Batman, and according to Deadline, the film earned 21.6 million in total. Warners Bros released the previews on Tuesday to help promote ticket sales, and to spur the audience’s interest. Over on Deadline, the polls to Matt Reeves Batman show an 88% positive and 73% recommended.
The Dark Knight made over 67.1M on its first opening night with 158 million opening weekend and The Dark Knight Rise made over 75M on its first opening night with 160 million opening weekend. Warner Bros is anticipating The Batman to gross 60M on its first day into theaters. The Batman‘s Thursday previews remain ahead of other DC films such as Justice League ($13M) and Wonder Woman ($11M), but below The Dark Knight ($18.5M), The Dark Knight Rises ($30.6M) and Batman v. Superman ($27.7M). Still, The Batman will premiere during a pivotal time for theaters and remains in a healthy box office number. It’s been a year or so since the New York City and Los Angeles markets reopened. L.A. just announced lifting the indoor mask mandate for vaccinated and unvaccinated, while New York City will rescind its indoor mask policy Monday. NRG reported this week that moviegoers that are “very or somewhat comfortable” attending the cinema reached 80%, so The Batman is looking to receive a positive feedback in its debut this weekend.
It has been over ten years since Batman had a solo movie, and fans are more than ready for Matt Reeves’ The Batman and to see Robert Pattinson as the world’s greatest vigilante, Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, and Colin Farrell as The Penguin. The Batman hits theaters today, Friday March 4th.
