‘Tenet’ Will Get International Release on August 26th with Limited U.S. Release One Week Later

Last we heard of Christopher Nolan’s Tenet, the film was delayed indefinitely due to the Covid-19 Pandemic with many theaters having an uncertainty about reopening. Many felt at this point, the most talked about film of 2020 will not even get summer release date in 2020 as many would have initially hoped for. However, Warner Bros has now found a way to still get Tenet it’s summer release date. As of now, Tenet is set for an international release on August 26th 2020 with a limited U.S. release to follow.

This was somewhat expected as Warner Bros even mentioned a week prior to this change that Tenet could be released overseas before the U.S. as coronavirus cases have been settling down significantly in other territories. At the end of August, the film will be released in 70 territories, including the U.K., Australia, France, Germany, Japan and Korea to name a few. However, a release date in China has not been set yet for the upcoming action film. Yet this is still another effort to help the movie industry become financially stable again as movie theaters have faced major setbacks from COVID-19.

Unfortunately, the U.S. hasn’t seen a decrease in cases and has become the main epicenter for the COVID-19, so Tenet’s release in the U.S. still has some setbacks. The film is set now to release in the U.S. in select cities on Labor Day weekend, September 3rd, 2020. No details on what exact cities will be releasing the upcoming Nolan film nor it is with certainty that those select theaters will be able to showcase Tenet as coronavirus cases rise in the U.S. Regardless, this still could be promising for Warner Bros for them to still make a profit off of Tenet despite the many limits of its release. Hopefully this will help theaters all around the world reopen if this strategy does pay off for those missing the theater-going experience.

Tenet is set for release internationally August 26th 2020 and in select U.S. Cities September 3rd, 2020.

Ryan Pineda: When it comes to film, animation, video games and other mediums, I can discuss for hours about how much on why certain films and animated media made me the person I am today. I adore the artistic merit that comes from a lot of pop-culture media and will definitely love to have a conversation about favorite movies any day! I have graduated in 2017 with a BA in Film and Television at the University of Arizona. Been passionate about writing about films due to always having an interesting outlook on the medium. Will always see a film and will definitely be sure to recommend it to someone that I know for a fact would love that movie. Not only that but will also give reasons for why I think that film did or did not work as a movie, and the same can go for other pieces of media like television, video games and especially animated projects.
