Teaser Trailer for Rupert Wyatt’s ‘Captive State’

The upcoming sci-fi thriller film Captive State released a teaser trailer that is both captivating and confusing all at once. The Focus Features project stars many famous names such as Vera Farmiga, John Goodman, Aston Sanders, Jonathan Majors and Alan Ruck. Writer and director Rupert Wyatt joined forces with his wife, Erica Beeney, to come up with a storyline that was new and original and 100% science fiction.

Based on the aftermath of an alien invasion that occurred almost a decade prior, Captive State follows a narrative that shows the impact on both sides of the annexation. Taking place in the streets of Chicago, the audience will see the resulting conflict between multiple viewpoints.

As holds true with any teaser, audiences are left perplexed and yet inquisitive about what the movie entails. After watching the trailer, one would almost not even know that the film was centralized around an alien invasion. Word prompts showing that America has bettered itself are promising, that is until the ‘Let us give thanks’ starts to garble in a traditionally unsettling way and the audience sees the cracks in the system. Up until this point, the viewer has yet to see any trace of an alien race. In fact, the only scene that tells the viewer that aliens are involved at all is still obscure. The reveal of an indistinct alien type ship blocking out the entire view in the end is the one clue that tantalizes onlookers for more.

Captive State invades theaters March 29, 2019. To get your own nibble of the film, check out the teaser trailer below.
