New ‘Beautiful Boy’ Trailer Starring Timothée Chalamet, Steve Carell

Academy Award nominee Timothée Chalamet stars alongside Golden Globe winner Steve Carell in the new biographical drama Beautiful Boy, based on the memoirs of Nic and David Sheff.

The film, directed by Felix van Groeningen, marks the director’s English debut. It follows the story of David Sheff, played by Steve Carell, and his journey in helping his son recover from his meth addiction. Chalamet portrays David’s son Nic, a high school all-star who succumbs to the dangers of drug addiction.

Chalamet gained fame through his roles in last year’s Oscar-nominated films Lady Bird and Call Me By Your Name, which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Lead Actor. He is already getting early awards buzz for Supporting Actor in Beautiful Boy. He is set to star in Paul Atreides’ science fiction remake of Dune, and will also reunite with his fellow Lady Bird costar Saoirse Ronan in Little Women

Many recognize Carell as Michael Scott from the American television series The Office, which ran for eight seasons and earned Carell a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Comedy. He also starred in Crazy, Stupid, Love but has revealed that he wants to transition to more dramatic projects in the future. The most notable product of that was his role in Foxcatcher, which earned him an Oscar nomination in 2015.

Beautiful Boy premiered this year at the Toronto International Film Festival. Its official release is on October 12, distributed by Amazon Studios.
