Stallone Announces That ‘Demolition Man 2’ Is In the Works

Sylvester Stallone is very well known for making comebacks to some of his most well established franchises, whether it involves taking up the mantle as Rocky Balboa again or having one more adventure as John Rambo. Now it seems like that moment is coming yet again as Stallone made the announcement that a sequel to his 1993 cult classic Demolition Man is in the works.

Stallone announced the sequel’s development through his Instagram page during a Q&A session in response to someone asking about a follow up to Demolition Man. He replied that the film is in the works with Warner Bros right now, stating “It’s looking fantastic. So, that should come out, that’s going to happen.” Of course, this is still early on and not much else has been revealed about the film outside of Stallone’s involvement. Therefore its unknown if director Marco Brambilla will return nor any of the original film’s stars, including Sandra Bullock and Wesley Snipes.

Demolition Man has gained a cult following in recent years due to its cultural relevance and, in the age of the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s even produced some odd foreshadowing to our own future, most notably how the three seashells have ultimately replaced toilet paper. Hopefully this sequel will see the light of the day in a future that isn’t quite as reflective of the one seen in the original film.

Ryan Pineda: When it comes to film, animation, video games and other mediums, I can discuss for hours about how much on why certain films and animated media made me the person I am today. I adore the artistic merit that comes from a lot of pop-culture media and will definitely love to have a conversation about favorite movies any day! I have graduated in 2017 with a BA in Film and Television at the University of Arizona. Been passionate about writing about films due to always having an interesting outlook on the medium. Will always see a film and will definitely be sure to recommend it to someone that I know for a fact would love that movie. Not only that but will also give reasons for why I think that film did or did not work as a movie, and the same can go for other pieces of media like television, video games and especially animated projects.
