Sony Releases New Trailer For Christmas Origin Film ‘The Star’

The story of Christmas has been told in a multitude of ways, but has it ever been told through the eyes of the animals. Sony has taken the reins on this project, and the trailer for The Star has been released.

The Star focuses on the first Christmas, where Mary and Joseph head to Bethlehem to give birth to Jesus. Unlike typical Christmas stories, however, most of the action revolves around the donkey and various other animals as they attempt to save Jesus’s life from King Herod, whose main goal was to kill Jesus.

A plethora of fun voice actors are part of the flock of cast members, including Keegan Michael-Key (Key & Peele, The Lego Movie), Zachary Levi (Tangled, Thor: The Dark World), Kristin Chenoweth (Rio 2, The Peanuts Movie), Christopher Plummer (Up, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo), Tyler Perry (Madea Franchise), and Oprah Winfrey (The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Color Purple). This film marks the feature film directorial debut for Timothy Reckart, who worked on the beautiful stop-motion film Anomalisawith a screenplay penned by Carlos Kotkin (Rio 2)The Star will be flying, clip-clopping, and crashing into theaters, November 20th, and it will be interesting to see if this film is nominated for Best Animated Film at the Academy Awards.
